The format for the group is: 20 minutes of meditation, introductions (brief such as, “Hi my name is Rick and I’tm an addict”), then we read a Step from a book of nine essays on Buddhism and the Steps, which was compiled at the San Francisco Zen Center. We then have a discussion (the bulk of the meeting) followed by 5-10 minutes of meditation. We have been meeting weekly since the beginning of 2008. We are not a registered AA/NA/Alanon group but many of those who attend have experience in these traditions.
